Vinicunca is the region where the Seven Colors Mountain or Rainbow Mountain (5,000 masl / 16,404 fasl) is located, in the Quipicanchis province, in Cusco.

Its geological formations reveal all its splendor, in contrast to the blue sky forming a formidable barrier between the desert of the coast and the Amazonian rainforest, dominated by the beautiful snowy Ausangate (6,384 m / 16,404 fasl), one of the sacred mountains of this region.

The mountains of Vinicunca are part of the Vilcanota mountain range and have a natural coloration by the presence of sedimentary stones in erosion, that have impressively agglomerated forming a set of seven colors.

After a 3-hour bus ride from Cusco, visitors will arrive in Qheshiuno, where a 4-hour trek starts with a slight slope but permanent and tiring, especially for those who do not have long trekking experience.

Access to the Seven Color Mountain is prohibited, so the beauty seen in the photographs is obtained from an adjoining mountain.

It is recommended to do this trek in 2 days to avoid health problems resulting from an unsuccessful acclimatization.
