Chiclayo and Trujillo, are the capital cities of the Departments of Lambayeque and La Libertad, respectively.

Its importance lies in the wealth of the pre-Inca archaeological remains that have astonished the world, hiding special treasures.

In 1986, the city of Chan-Chan, situated in Trujillo constituted by a set of walled citadels, constructed entirely of adobe with ornaments representing the divinities of the sea, was declared Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity by UNESCO.

In 1987 the Tomb of the Lord of Sipan, an old Mochica emperor from the III Century was discovered in Chiclayo. This finding was comparable to the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb due to the quality and quantity of ornaments found (about 600 objects in gold, silver and turquoise) alluding to the duality (sun-moon), as well as tunics and other textiles; also as part of the tomb, an amount of servants and religious personages were fund buried next to this governor.

In 2006 another discovery astonishes the world (found in the Chicama Valley, north from Trujillo), is the tomb of the Lady of Cao, a young woman governor also attributed to the Mochica culture (developed in the IV Century). Apparently her death was caused by complications during childbirth, she is adorned by necklaces of gold, silver, lapiz lazuli, quartz and turquoise and nose adornments and diadems. It is a young woman of about 19 to 25 years old, and of small stature 1.45cm with tattoos evoking the fertility and its possible abilities of prediction.

Chiclayo and Trujillo are connected cities and are easy to reach by plane or by road.

We recommend to arrive to Chiclayo or Trujillo by plane and reach the next city by road due to many important attractions can be found in the middle of these two destinations.
